I have now lost 36 kilos and have the mind set I need to continue getting myself healthy for myself and my children

At age 45 and morbidly obese, my GP told me I needed the services of a personal trainer. After searching the internet I gave Angus a call and started training with him twice a week.

Embarrassed by my size and my inability to walk the shortest distance without back pain, Angus was nothing but supportive and encouraging. Apart from helping me with my physical well being he has also given me great advice about the nutritional and lifestyle changes I needed to make to get my weight down.

Since starting with Angus I have now lost 36 kilos and have the mind set I need to continue getting myself healthy for myself and my children. I am now no longer scared of physical activity and can comfortably walk for kilometres without back pain.

When I look back at the things I could do when I first started training compared to where I am today, I am amazed by the physical and mental strength I have gained.

I cannot recommend Angus and his team enough.

Ive lost 15kg and am feeling better than ever. I am doing more in my life than I ever thought I would.

Looking to join the army, but being completely unfit and obese, I had a mountain to climb, and the work I was doing on my own was not showing results. I ended up taking the step of seeing Angus thinking there wasnt a chance it would ever work out for me and havnt looked back.

I’ve lost 15kg and am feeling better than ever. I am doing more in my life than I ever thought I would and have passed all the army fitness tests. I’m on the track to my dream job, but better than that are the unexpected gains. Confidence, quality of life, and happiness are all there- I cant quite understand how I ever got through a day as I was.

Angus’s approach is simple, but where I am now speaks for the quality of his work. Solid sessions with him with programs and excellent nutritional advice for the week. He is a wealth of information and advice on living a healthly life, and even posseses a tasty collection of motivational one liners when the going gets tough.

With a bit of hard work and excellent guidance from Angus, anybody can turn their life around and get the same benefits that I now enjoy.

I’m in the best shape of my life at the moment, at 50, and improving every week.

I see Angus for 3 half-hour training sessions a week, and I really look forward to them. I don’t miss a session now, unless I’m travelling for work.

I’m fit and strong now – and it’s a great feeling. My legs and bum are in much better shape. Clothes fit better, and I’m dropping a size in jeans every couple of months or so. My resting heart rate shows how fit I am – it’s around 52 beats per minute.

So far I guess I’ve lost about 6kg, and maybe there’s another 6kg of fat to lose. I don’t know exactly, because I threw out my bathroom scales and decided to focus instead on how my clothes look and feel.

I’m now running joyfully, further, faster and pain free. I can even sprint further. I used to get knee pain, but with Angus’ strengthening exercises, this has resolved. It’s all so much easier.

I have more energy now for all of life and I don’t have to drag myself to training.

One of the biggest surprises for me is finding that everyday tasks are so much easier now – the result of a much stronger “core.” I used to take it for granted that as you get older, it gets a little bit harder to get up out of the chair, get out of the car, carry the shopping. I used to put up with occasional aches and pains, back pain etc. But since I’ve been training with Angus, these everyday tasks are effortless and I don’t get any more back pain.

I can pretty much leap up off the sofa these days. I carry multiple bags of heavy groceries effortlessly, and the same with armloads of dense firewood. I can pull out heavy pots and pans from the deepest kitchen cupboard without complaining. Bending, reaching, lifting and carrying are all effortless, without my formerly characteristic grunt accompanying them.

I love the sessions with Angus. I now have a playful go-for-it attitude, instead of my old “victim” routine that used to be the source of all sorts of excuses, that blocked my progress.

Angus is showing me I can do so much more than I thought I could. I never thought I would be able to run faster – what a lovely surprise.

Every week I’m seeing progress – improvements in strength, speed, endurance, ease, weight loss, attitude. So there are new discoveries every week.

I’m in the best shape of my life at the moment, at 50, and improving every week. I’m still losing weight, and I’m finally being consistent with my diet: eating healthily and sustainably, effortlessly.

“I have also lost 7 kilos and at 53, I feel super fit!”

After failing a fitness test at the police academy I had 8 weeks to prepare for a re-test. I trained for 3 weeks almost everyday on my own but didn’t seem to be getting anywhere, so my wife organised for me to see Angus.

He trained me twice a week and gave me one day of homework. After 5 weeks I went from not being able to make the minimum score of 5.1 on the beep test, to getting 6.1 and passing the rest of the academy fitness test easily.

I continued with his training plan whilst at the academy and improved my beep test even further to 7.1 and my flexibility test improved another 7 cms. As a by-product of the training I have also lost 7 kilos and at 53 I feel super fit and the best I have for a long time- thanks to Angus.

“I am feeling very positive, have more energy and have a new body shape!”

I wanted to get fit, gain strength and lose weight. I knew it would take time and discipline so decided to engage a personal trainer so that my resolve to get fitter and stronger would not weaken.

Angus takes me through 2 sessions of strength training. I enjoy my 2 early morning sessions each week. My progress has been steady and I have now introduced 3 x 4 km walks and two Pilates sessions to my program.

With my new eating program as the last addition to my long term plan I am feeling very positive, have more energy and have a new body shape. The initial pain has certainly been worth the gain.

“Combining the sessions together, it’s a team effort!”

Personal Training is hard work but great fun, especially when we can train together! We can really feel the difference with our fitness level and core strength, even though we thought we were fairly fit and active to begin with.

Combining the sessions together, it’s a team effort. We can push each other to go the extra mile or to gang up on Angus! He still has the upper hand though, he designs the sessions to accommodate our individual preferences, needs and weak areas. No session is ever exactly the same, and there is no time for boredom!

We feel it is important to enjoy exercise to be able to get the most out of it. We may complain how tired and sore we are by the end of a session, but guaranteed we always look forward to coming back the following week!

We recommend it to everyone!

“My blood sugar levels always drop after the exercise and as a result I need less insulin!”

As someone who suffers from type 1 Diabetes and in my early forties I decided I needed to do something before I suffered further health issues as a result.

When I first started with Angus I struggled to even do 10 lunges but now I can do them quite comfortably and even sneak out a few chin ups! My blood sugar levels always drop after the exercise and as a result I need less insulin.

I’m not normally into exercise but having the appointments with Angus has helped motivate me to do it. Now the motivation comes from seeing the weight moving off my chest and my belt getting looser. All it has taken is two sessions a week and I feel much better for it.
