Weightloss

There is now more and more information available regarding weight loss, yet more and more people are becoming overweight. In 2005, 54% of Australians were overweight and currently one person is diagnosed with diabetes every 7 minutes. Something needs to change.

There are so many diets like low carb, low fat, high protein, zone, low GI, soup, shake, body shaping, juice, caveman, liver cleansing, ketogenic, blood type, point counting, calorie controlled and then all the super exercise machines and gym programs that are going to get us in "the fat burning zone" and shed fat from our mid sections in 8 minutes. Not to mention all the fat blasting, craving stopping, metabolism boosting, carb restricting, cellulite removing, and fat-blocking pills and potions available from the pharmacy and naturopath.

You would think that with all this cutting edge technology and information available, there would be no reason for anyone to be overweight. Maybe there is more to it.

The fact is that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is a lifelong process. There is no point going on a diet or exercise regime that you can't sustain for longer than a few months because as soon as you stop- you will resort back to the old habits and end up with the same body that you had before you started, and some. There is a reason why certain weight loss companies offer life memberships- they know that once you stop eating their food you will eventually put the weight back on. Diets are temporary and so are the results!

Losing weight takes a change of lifestyle. You need to create new life long patterns that are sustainable and will create and maintain a lean, healthy body for the long term.

You need to understand how your body works, and how it is affected by what you do with it and what you put into it.

You also need to be ready mentally. In most cases it isn't that the wrong diet or exercise program that causes people not to lose weight - it is more the fact that they didn't or couldn't stick to for long enough. It takes realistic goals, encouragement and achievable strategies that aren't going to set you up to fail.

We will educate you so that you can make the best decisions for your body. Rather than put you on a diet, we would rather teach you about how foods work in your body and what exercises are the most beneficial for your body for the least amount of time and effort. We will simplify the process so that it is achievable and understandable.

We will look at all the factors that often get overlooked such as sleep, stress, depression, injuries, medications, and medical history. This may involve consulting with your doctor or other heath professionals to ensure that you are exercising within your safe limits and to rule out medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, diabetes and hormonal imbalances.

Everybody has a different body and a different lifestyle. So each person must be treated on a case by case basis.

We will be by your side to teach, encourage and support you on your journey to a leaner, healthier and more energetic you.
